Fabric of the Coast in Winter

Watching the coast through a layer of watercolour printed silk.

The weather is very much part of this experience and the battering sound of the wind and wintry cold light heightens the sense of existence in this place at a particular time.
Mixing the artwork with the landscape that inspired it. A snapshot capturing a moment in a transitional yet rhythmical space.

Observing the Sefton coast through the seasons

The weather and time of year play a major part in the aspect of the coast and how it is portrayed. With each day the light, shadows and colours change depending on the mood of the weather and season.
In this way, no captured image of the coast can ever be recorded more than once without certain change taking place.
I am interested in recording the fleeting moments of the coast, observing the consistent rhythmical patterns of season. time of day and tide and how they are layered with dynamic and transient effects of weather and light.
I have gathered a selection of images to depict the Sefton coast for Autumn 2014 in a picture book named 'The Fabric of the Coast'
