There was fun for the family during Feb half term when I ran a Coastal painting workshop in The Art Box
in The Atkinson’s art gallery– a family friendly space where you can create and share your own artwork#BetweenLandandSea @AtkinsonThe
The families who attended engaged with all the coastal items that were gathered on the tables to make a wonderful selection of paintings and collages and the children produced some beautifully inspired artwork using felt pens washed over with water and patterned papers.
Southport's cultural venue The Atkinson re-opened in style in 2013, with the The new Museum Between Land and Sea opening in February 2015, which tells the story of the many people who have lived and worked along our coast.
Emma Anderson, The Atkinson’s Director said:
We are delighted to have been awarded this project/ given this opportunity?. It will help us show or demonstrate our ambitions for The Atkinson as a centre for celebration and understanding of Sefton’s inspiring coast. We are particularly keen involve artists to deliver creative activities that increase engagement by new audiences, particularly giving people the chance to work with professional artists.
